Geni is the world’s largest free family tree, family history and genealogy creator software online. You can use Geni to build your family tree, share it with relatives, and discover new branches of your family. It’s easy to get started.
You need to register for a free account at Geni. Once you login into the family tree, you will see your name in the family tree. Just click and add father, mother and siblings and you already have a family tree. Click and add spouse, and relatives one by one and you will see a big family tree presented to you in a very nice graphical view!
Once you have added you family members and relatives, you can enter their email address and invite them. When they respond to the invitation and create their own Geni account, they will be able to see the same family tree and contribute information to make the family tree grow bigger. This collaborative effort makes it easy to grow your tree.
As your family tree grows, Geni automatically looks for matches in other family trees. You’ll be notified of possible matches, growing your tree even faster. Your tree may even merge with the world family tree, which currently contains almost 90 million profiles.
Everyone in the tree has a profile which shows more about them and enables other family members to stay in touch. Families can work together to build profiles for common ancestors.
Family members can also share photos, videos, events, discussions, and more. A family timeline shows the history of everyone in the family.
Geni is private. Only the people in your family tree can log in to your tree and your profile. Geni will not share your personal information with third parties.
You can use Geni to:
- Build your family tree
- Invite relatives to collaborate
- Preserve your family history
- Discover new relatives
- Share family photos and videos
- Remember birthdays and anniversaries
Geni in 1 minute Introduction
Geni is private and secure. Only the people in your family can see your tree. I have created my own family tree and it is the easiest way to create one. I even found new relations when other people in the family tree added more information!
