This is a Free step-by-step lesson for anyone interested to start or create their own blog as a hobby or to earn money online. Before blogs became popular, I was already running my own website. Updating and maintaining my website was a tedious task as I have to open a HTML editor to create a content page. In December 2007, I decided to try creating a blog. I searched the internet for a complete lesson on how to create a blog and run it. Unfortunately I did not find any ‘complete’ guide, instead I found bits and pieces of information from various websites and blogs which I gathered and started my blog creation journey.

Once I’ve created my blog, I started playing around with it’s settings, themes and various free plugins. I started to search the internet for what everyone is doing with their blogs and what is their recommendations in the world of blogging. As I learn more, I improved my blog. And I started getting more visitors to my blog from search engines such as Google and Yahoo. And more visitors turns out to be more money for me!

There are many ways you can make money from your blog. How do I make money from my blog? I use AdSense, a free contextual advertising program from the largest and most popular search engine, Google.

I won’t claim that I’m making thousands of dollars from AdSense. The truth is I make less than $50 a month, and that is free money for a passive blogger like me. If I teach you how to start your own blog and you actively post in your blog, I’m sure you would be earning more money than me!

I’ll teach you on how to create and run your own blog without spending a single cent. All the tools needed are already available for free on the internet. So make full use of them!

You need to have a Google account. If you use Gmail, you will use the same ID and password for all the other services.

These are the free services that you will use in this lesson:

  1. Google Account (Gmail, etc)
  2. Blogger (Used to create and host your blog)
  3. AdSense (Used to provide contextual advertisement for you to make money)
