How to change and update your Blogger blog theme and layout?

When you create a blog in Blogger, you will come across a screen which allows you to select a blog theme from a total of 16 blog theme designs. You might not like the limited choice of templates given to you. Do you think that you’re stuck with them? Of course not! You are free to use any of the Blogger blog themes that are freely available on the internet. These free Blogger themes are developed by various people and they put them online for free.

Follow these steps to change your Blogger blog theme:

1. If you are in the Blogger Dashboard view, click on the “Layout” link for a particular blog as shown in the picture below.

2. When you are in the Blogger blog tabs view, click on the “Layout” tab as shown in the picture below. And click on “Edit HTML” link.

3. You will see “Edit Template” section as shown in the screenshot below.

Note: Make sure you have backed up the existing code in “Edit Template” textbox. Copy and paste into a text editor and save it.

4. If you have already downloaded a Blogger blog theme, select (press CTRL+A) the HTML/XML code, copy (press CTRL+C) the HTML/XML code.

5. Below the “Edit Template” textbox, click on “Revert to Classic Template” link.

6. In the “Edit Template” textbox, select (press CTRL+A) the code within the textbox and paste (press CTRL+V). Click “Save Template” button.

7. You might be asked for confirmation if it is going to overwrite your old Blogger blog theme settings. If yes, you’ll need to click “Confirm & Save” button.

8. Now you can view/refresh your blog to see your new blog theme!
